depending on your choice of materials for the frame, cushions and covers.
EFFORTLESS VERSATILE COMFORT
Nikita Indoor Outdoor can be thought of as a Convertible Furnishings System that offers great versatility, ease and comfort. Every Nikita Convertible, by design, is a comfortable seat, an uncompromised bed and a smooth recliner. In addition, they all have wheels, so, yes, they roll! And you can roll them together in combinations... into sectionals and to make larger units. You will want to keep this in mind when selecting pieces for an ensemble, and order similar cushions for those units that you intend to roll together into "cool combos". Similarly, you can mix and match fabrics for any stylistic effect you choose. You can even order extra slipcover sets for those days when you just wanna have a change! In addition there are 4 hardwoods to choose from, and several kinds of cushions and mattresses as well as the array of indoor and outdoor fabrics.
INDOOR ONLY or INDOOR OUTDOOR?
The first thing you need to decide is whether you will be using your new Nikita Convertibles indoors only or indoors and outdoors. Ofcourse, any unit, with any combination of wood, cushion and fabric can be used indoors. Because of their toughness and durability, the outdoor fabrics are becoming increasingly popular for indoor use. Their fade resistance qualities are especially desirable for sunny indoor settings and everyone benefits from the easy cleaning features of these fabrics.
SIZES. ARMS or ARMLESS?
What sizes? Arms or armless? Choose the styles and sizes that suit your style and room settings best! Combine the Scandia style (with arms)and Freedom style (armless) in different sizes and combinations to fill out a space or a room, or to maximize space utilization in "space challenged settings".
ASH, CHERRY, OAK, MAHOGANY
All 4 hardwoods are beautiful and can be used indoors only. They each have their own natural distinct grain and color. We can finish any of these 4 woods in teak oil, which will protect the wood and draw out the natural beauty of its grain and color. If kept indoors, and with time, the natural color of the hardwood will deepen and become richer. Oak and Mahogany can be used outdoors and will be become "weather grey" or "cape cod grey" eventually. To return the outdoor pieces to their original color, you will need to re oil the wood. All of the units ordered for outdoor use are assembled with stainless screws and hardware. We can also stain or paint any of these woods to almost any color you wish!
BOX & HINGE CUSHION OR FUTON?
Do you like the more tailored look of the box & hinge cushion? Or do you prefer to have a "one piece" quality futon mattress? Any box & hinge cushion or futon cushion/mattress can be used indoors only. All futon cushions/mattresses are for indoor use only. Box & hinge cushions made with outdoor sunbrella fabric can be used outdoors as well as indoors.

FABRICS, FABRICS, FABRICS
Fall in love once. Then fall in love again. It's OK. You can switch your futon slipcovers weekly, monthly, yearly... whenever you feel inspired. The box & hinge cushion casings are removable... but you may need to bring them in to be restuffed... as they "form fitting". For outdoor use... choose outdoor fabrics. For indoor only use... anything goes, including our fine leathers!
